When we notice a few bumps on our bodies, particularly on our face or genital area, we naturally become concerned. Anyone would. But if you have noticed small, white spots or bumps on your facial area, especially on your lips, or in your genital area, you may not have any major cause for concern – these may just be what dermatologists refer to as ‘Fordyce spots,’ named after the dermatologist who discovered them. But whilst Fordyce spots are not harmful or dangerous (and are not even painful), they can still be a source of embarrassment. Here, then, is how to avoid – and cure – Fordyce spots naturally.
Take more vitamins
Sometimes, the best way to address the issue of Fordyce spots is simply to take more vitamins. There are a few vitamins you can particularly benefit from, such as vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, and vitamin K. if you’re not keen on taking vitamins in capsule or tablet form, you can always find vitamins in different foods, such as kale, lettuce, sweet potatoes, mangoes, and cantaloupes for vitamin A; salmon, crab, mackerel, oysters, mussels, and Swiss cheese for vitamin B; cauliflower, strawberries, pineapple, peppers, papaya, and Brussels sprouts for vitamin C; salmon, cod liver oil, tofu, cereals (whole grain), caviar, and butter for vitamin D; almonds, kale, avocadoes, papaya, olives, and parsley for vitamin E; and beans, eggs, asparagus, strawberries, and cucumbers for vitamin K.
Moisturise with coconut oil
Coconut oil (especially organic virgin coconut oil) is one of those ‘super foods’ we’ve been hearing about for quite a while. It does really have some great benefits, not only for the skin, but also the hair, health and metabolism, and more. If you want to avoid and cure Fordyce spots, simply apply a few drops of coconut oil to the affected area a few times a day. You can choose to mix coconut oil with other oils, such as jojoba oil, tea tree oil, pine oil, and olive oil, which also have properties that prevent and treat Fordyce spots.
Clean your face and genital area regularly
To prevent as well as treat Fordyce spots, one of the first steps you can take is make sure that you clean the problem areas regularly. Pay attention to your hygiene and wash your face regularly, especially when it comes to the area of the upper lip. Proper hygiene is important, not only for the prevention and cure of Fordyce spots, but for the prevention of other dermatological and physiological conditions as well.
There are other home remedies you can use to treat Fordyce spots, including garlic, asparagus, citrus fruits and juices, and – the crowd favourite – apple cider vinegar. With these natural remedies, annoying Fordyce spots can be done away with once and for all.
