As we enter into a new year and a new decade, there’s a whole new set of trends for brides to consider. Whether you prefer the cosmic cool look or lean more towards traditional glamour, there’s a style out there to suit your bridal vibe.

The Modern Bride

It’s no secret that we’ve been obsessed with all things astral in recent years, and that trend is set to continue in 2020.

The dress

Ethereal dresses made from flowing fabrics featuring beautifully intricate detailing with plenty of subtle embroidery, beads and applique with stellar shapes is a key look for the celestial trend – and the addition of pockets (!) creates a laid-back and relaxed cosmic cool look.

The veil

Modern brides are ditching the veil in favour of capes. Made from light tulle, capes create extra drama and glamour, whilst also enhancing the whimsical nature of the starry theme. Whilst hair should be worn loose in soft waves, with the addition of celestial inspired hair accessories.

The ring

Modern brides are moving away from traditional ring designs in favour of more raw looks. A huge trend for 2020 are molten engagement rings. Created from imperfect casts that give a textured look to the ring, they are often inspired by nature. The addition of partially cut moonstones and opals set in the band make the molten design perfect for star-crossed lovers.

The Traditional Bride

The 2010’s saw a flurry of Royal weddings, giving brides who love the traditional look some regal inspiration – and it looks as if the traditional all out glamour of fairy-tale weddings is set to continue in 2020.

The dress

Brides who are aspiring for the traditional look in 2020 can expect to see dresses full of volume – think big skirts and puffy sleeves, with layers of chiffon and lace, taffeta and silk. Inspired by Megan Markle on the other end of the traditional dress spectrum is the high neck that draws inspiration from the Victorian era of demure damsels.

The veil

In 2020 the traditional bride, is giving the veil a contemporary twist. Instead of glistening tiaras, veils can be attached to embellished headbands. To accompany this resplendent look, hair should be styled in a low chic chignon, or a perfectly polished ballerina bun.

The ring

Brides who favour the traditional look will love the selection of classic shapes from F. Hinds. Choose a solitaire design with a glistening single cut diamond for the ultimate in timeless beauty. For a 2020 update whilst still keeping the essence of the solitaire shape, opt for a white gold or platinum band, or add a twist in the band setting.

Whether you’re having your wedding in a church, or a registry office, on a beach in Bali, or a French chateau, with a guestlist of your nearest and dearest or a live-streaming from your Insta-account – there’s style out there that’s perfect for you.
